Hi and welcome to my blog!

My name is Natasha and I guess I have a bit of explaining to do. You might be wondering about the name WritanBlog. It doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, does it, and what the does ‘writan’ even mean?  Well, I wanted something writerly and a little bit clever for this blogging adventure but every domain name I came up with was taken. So I had to think a little more laterally (literally?)…

‘Writan’ is the Old English origin of the word ‘write’. It originally meant “to incise, engrave…” or “to score, outline, draw the figure of”. I love the permanency that is implied with these definitions. To write is to leave an indelible mark, something that can last through the ages and that, I think, is a wonderful and powerful thing.

So, WritanBlog is my way of making some kind of mark on the world. To carve out my own little place where I can think and write. I’d love it if you could join me – have a read, leave a comment, make a mark.
